Drag & drop audio files here to optimize
Free online audio file size reducer: adjust sample rate (kHz), channel count (mono/stereo), and bitrate (kbps) to compress audio without losing acceptable quality. Supports AAC, MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, and more. Batch optimize, preview, and download results as ZIP. No upload, all in your browser.
Audio file size is directly proportional to sample rate, number of channels, and bitrate. Higher sample rates capture more detail but produce larger files. Stereo files are roughly twice as large as mono. Higher bitrate means more data per second. By lowering these values, you compress the audio – great for web uploads, email attachments, or saving storage space.
Sample rate (Hz) – number of samples per second. CD quality is 44,100 Hz (44.1 kHz). Lower rates (e.g., 22,050 Hz) reduce file size but lose high frequencies. Speech can go as low as 8,000 Hz.
Channels – Mono (1) vs Stereo (2). Mono cuts file size by half and is fine for podcasts or voice. Stereo preserves left/right separation for music.
Bitrate (kbps) – data used per second. Lower bitrate = smaller file but more compression artifacts. For MP3/AAC, 128 kbps is good, 64 kbps acceptable for speech, 320 kbps near-lossless.
We support all major formats. Note: For lossless formats (FLAC, WAV, AIFF) adjusting bitrate might have limited effect; focus on sample rate and channels to reduce size.
This free online tool gives you full control over the three most important factors affecting audio file size: sample rate, channels, and bitrate. Whether you need to shrink audio files for email attachments, upload to websites with size limits, reduce storage space, or optimize for bandwidth, you can experiment with the settings to find the perfect balance between quality and size. Batch processing, instant preview, and ZIP download make it efficient. Try it now – free, no signup, fully private.
